Fascia Boards
Fascia is the horizontal board that runs along the lower edge of the roof, capping the rafter ends and providing the mounting point for gutters. Rotted or damaged fascia compromises gutter attachment, allows moisture into the rafter system, and is often what leads to subsequent soffit damage.
We replace rotted or damaged fascia boards and coordinate with any gutter work needed as a result. Properly sealing and painting the replacement fascia is part of the job.
Gable Vent Damage and Repair
Gable vents sit in the triangular end walls of your attic and provide exhaust ventilation to move hot air out. Damaged or missing gable vents disrupt this airflow and can also allow pests and moisture to enter the attic directly.
Common causes of gable vent damage
- Storm damage — wind-driven debris can crack or dislodge louvered vent panels
- Pest damage — particularly from squirrels chewing through wooden vent frames
- Age-related deterioration of wood frames or screening

- Cracked, missing, or broken louvers
- Gaps around the vent frame where it meets the siding or sheathing
- Damaged or missing screening (allowing pest entry)
- Evidence of moisture intrusion on the attic wall below the vent

We assess the vent frame, screening, and surrounding siding or sheathing. Repair may involve replacing the vent unit, rebuilding the surrounding frame, or resealing and screening the existing unit. We also check that vent size is appropriate for your attic square footage.

In winter, heat escaping from living areas into a poorly ventilated attic causes snow to melt unevenly on the roof surface, increasing the risk of ice dams.
